During the past week we had two Wilson ships calling at Wicklow port, to load out woodchips and discharge packaged timber. It was unusual as Wilson ships normally only call to load out recyclable metal cargoes.

Wilson Paldiski was first to arrive from the Netherlands and loaded a cargo of wood chippings at the Packet pier. Loading was completed and she left late on Wednesday evening for the Swedish port of Södertälje. Wilson Paldiski was built in 2007 at the Spanish Freire shipyard in Vigo, as the Lauren C for Carisbrooke Shipping, which is based at Cowes on the isle of Wight. In 2020 the ship was acquired by Wilson Ship Management and registered at Bergen under the Norwegian flag.

Wilson Harrier arrived midweek from Sheerness to discharge a part cargo of packaged timber, from Scandinavia. The cargo was discharged, and she departed late Friday night on the tide, heading south for Newport in Wales. The ship was built in 1993 by J. Pattje, Waterhuizen, Netherlands as Laura Helena. She took her present name in 2008 and is registered at Bridgetown under the Barbados flag. (Source https://www.shipspotting.com)
Looking back through my notes, Wilson Paldiski first called at Wicklow port in February 2022 to load out scrap metal. She also called in February 2019 as the Lauren C to load a similar scrap cargo. Wilson Harrier has also called in the past, loading out scrap metal for Avonmouth in July 2020.
