Piper Cherokee over Wicklow

A Piper PA-32-300 Cherokee Six tracks south over Wicklow harbour on Sunday 26 April 2026. I have seen it a couple of times now and l believe it is based at the nearby Newcastle Aerodrome.

This US‑registered Cirrus SR22 aircraft was flying northbound along the coastline on Sunday 19th April while en route from Cardiff to Weston Airport, Dublin. The SR22 is a single‑engine light plane manufactured by Cirrus Aircraft in the United States.

Coast Guard AW189 over Wicklow bay

The Dublin‑based Irish Coast Guard AW189 search and rescue helicopter is seen over Wicklow Bay during an evening training flight on Thursday, 9 April 2026.

The helicopter completed a couple of circuits over the bay before returning north. The twin‑engined AW189, manufactured by Leonardo, is operated by Bristow Ireland on behalf of the Irish Coast Guard and is one of a fleet of six helicopters based at Weston, Waterford, Sligo and Shannon Airports. They are also supported by two fixed‑wing aircraft based at Shannon.

‘Otter’ over Wicklow Bay

‘Queen of the Sky’ over Wicklow

A Cargolux Boeing 747-800 transits over Wicklow harbour at 37,000ft (about 11.28 km) on the 6th of April 2025, during a transatlantic flight from Chicago to Luxembourg with freight. As far as l know, Lufthansa is the only operator in Europe currently using the 747 for passenger services.
