Parnass at Wicklow Port in 1985

Parnass (Photo: Tommy Dover)

I finally got my Canon Wi-Fi printer set up and in working order following our recent house move. So, l picked out some print photos to scan. This photo is dated 25th May 1985, making it forty years old! It shows the German coaster Parnass loading wood chippings at the north quay, Wicklow Harbour on a dull day.  It was one of the first photos l took with my 35mm film camera, which was brand new at the time and the First ship in the Wicklow Maritime Archive.

Parnass was built at the German JJ Sietas yard in 1977 and is a type 72 ship, she was a frequent caller to the port over the years. In the 1990s, the coaster was renamed Anna H during another visit.

My final sighting of her was in Cork during the summer of 2004 as the Yamburg.
